TRADITIONAL SONG: The Alphabet Song
THE SHAPE GAME: This time we add the ‘star’ shape.
BOOK: Hand, Hand, Fingers, Thumb
A band of dancing monkeys explain hands, fingers, and thumbs. This book uses simple words, repetition, and pictures that act as clues to the text.
HANDS-ON ACTIVITY: We enjoyed playing a djembe. According to the Bambara people in Mali, the name of the djembe comes from the saying “Anke djé, anke bé” which translates to “everyone gather together in peace” and defines the drum’s purpose.
MUSIC AND MOVEMENT: Clap Slow, Clap Fast
CLOSING FINGERPLAY SONG: Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star
CLOSING LAP RHYME: Zoom Zoom Zoom
